I know, you think this is another dirty picture! Some tramp stamp, or tattooed treasure trail...
...Well, you are just plain wrong again! This photo is a portion of a recent hi-res image from a camera on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter! These twisting dark trails are seen over the lighter terrain of the Martian surface. Such trails are thought to be the work of wind vortices or "dust devils."
